After a recent crack down on Telcos for allowing scammers to use SMS sender IDs to defraud, ACMA is forcing all SMS providers to enforce approval/registration of Sender IDs. ACMA has also asked Telcos to start to block SMS's coming from unregistered Sender IDs starting this Saturday July 1, 2023.
What does this mean to your use of vSure?Presently, vSure via our SMS provider Amazon, is able to send self-onboarding / right to work checks via SMS's FROM a sender ID of your choosing, limited only to 10 characters, no symbols.
From this weekend, we expect some telcos may start blocking Sender IDs that have not been registered via our provider Amazon. It will take time for all the telcos to be able to comply with the ACMA demands, but I emphasise, *some* may start blocking unregistered Sender IDs as early as this weekend! |
What do you need to do?Every vSure customer who wants to continue to send SMS's to candidates/new staff FROM a sender ID that reflects your company name needs to complete THIS FORM urgently and return it via email to support@vsure.com.au OR upload to a support ticket here.
OTHERWISE you can choose to use one of our registered SMS Sender IDs:
Again, you will need to either nominate one of the above 3 via email support@vsure.com.au OR by lodging a support ticket here.
If we do not get a response from you, we will revert your Sender ID to be vSure at some point over the coming weeks. We don't beleive this will need to happen straight away this weekend, but it depends on how many Telcos are able to implement the ACMA request at short notice and how quickly Amazon move to enforce the new rules. If we get feedback that messages aren't being delivered consistently from next week, we will start to revert clients to the default, registered sender ID straight away.
You best option is to ACT NOW per the above options - either let us know what Sender ID you want OR send us the required form URGENTLY. |
